Anfang der 70er Jahre erstand der Antiquitätenhändler Erich Wassmann einen alten Biersiphon, wie er vor Jahrzehnten als Gebrauchsgegenstand in fast allen Haushalten zu finden war. So auch im Hause der Wassmann`s . Oft musste er als Junge für seinen Vater in einem solchen Siphon aus dem Wirtshaus um die Ecke den abendlichen Haustrunk holen. Die erworbene Flasche - vermutlich aus dem Jahre 1910 - 1920 - rief die alten Erinnerungen wieder ins Gedächtnis. Die Liebe zur Nostalgie brachte Erich Wassmann auf die Idee, diesen Biersiphon wieder im Braugewerbe als Gebrauchsgut und Werbeträger einzuführen. Die Wiedereinführung des Biersiphons auf dem deutschen und internationalen Markt wurde 1975 mit Hilfe seiner Familie in die Tat umgesetzt.

Heute ist aus diesen Anfängen das weltweit tätige Unternehmen Industrieglas Wassmann GmbH & Co. KG geworden, welches in dritter Generation weiterbesteht.

At the beginning...

...of the seventies the antique dealer Mr. Erich Wassmann bought an old beersiphon. For many decades such beer siphons used to be found in most households as was the also case in the Wassmann household. As a boy he very often had to take such a siphon to get his father's evening drink from the nearby pub.
The acquired beer siphon - probably dating from the year 1910 - 1920 - brought back old memories to him. As a result of his love for tradition Erich Wassmann came up with the idea to re-introduce the beersiphon to the brewing industry.
The re-introduction of the beersiphon to the German and international market took place in 1975 with the help of his family.

Today...

...the company Industrieglas Wassmann GmbH & Co. KG, which is now being run by the fourth generation, has evolved to become a global player.

Since 2009 we've been running our own small in-house brewery, the Brauzwerg, at our plant in Unna!

With our 3HL brewhouse, we want to enrich our town and the surrounding area with a regional product.

Of course we use our bottles and siphons for this.

Since we have not only been a supplier in the brewery industry for over 45 years, but have also been brewing and bottling ourselves for over a decade, we know in detail what is important and what problems and challenges you encounter in everyday business.

With the experience and expertise gained from this, we can advise you and report to you on an equal footing from our experiences.

FAQ

The beersiphon was mentioned at first in the beginning of the 20th century and a very popular item to take beer home from the pub. The clip-lock was the most efficient closure at that time. The name beersiphon has nothing to do with the similar word in the plumber's business. 

For many years the beersiphon was the only container to take beer home but the brewery business changed by "optimization and improvement" so the siphon dissappeared from the market. 

Beer developed more and more to a mass product with a mass packaging in standardized bottles.

Due to their individual beer-packaging more and more breweries realize the possibilities to present themselves more effective than their competitors 

Because: The more things are equal - the more important are the differences. 

Probably the beersiphon is an expensive - perhaps even the most expensive - but also the most exclusive choice for a beer-bottle. The best beer deserves the best packaging. 

This "Bottle" is the actual missing link between the beer-consumer and "his" brewery.

From 30 years of experience we can report that approximately 80 % of our brewery and micro-brewery-customers sell the siphons which means they convey the property to the customer. The customer's responsibility for his own siphon avoids (mostly) that unsightly "things" remain in the bottle. They return their bottle washed for the next refill. Greater breweries often practice the pledge system - but they mostly have very efficient cleaning machines.

For sceptics: The beersiphon is definately not only a jewelry-bottle which may be suitable for decoration purposes only. Failed! 
Robustness - equipment - processing and quality have been proved and established million times in the hard industrial use. Many refills are another argument for environmental protection.
